Google's Penguin Update

>
This past week, Google has released it's latest update, title the Penguin Update, where it updated its search engine algorithm once again. The key result was to penalize those who participate in less than honest SEO practices or Black Hat SEO as it is commonly known.

The update has been a rather polarizing one to say the very least. There are many website owners are up in arms and as always, the intentions of Google, have rather been called into question. Obviously as with any business move, don't think for one second that this is not to protect Google first, then its users, and then the webmasters or perhaps the two percent of the world who obsesses over Google algorithm changes.

As with any change to Google, whether one considers it fair or foul, there are going to be many kinks to be worked out. Some people have felt the heat and others have yet to feel the heat, but perhaps will feel the penalties in due time when Google crawls their website.

And the major sticking point for this Penguin Update is the fact that many people who seem to have quality content are feeling the heat. Some of the wicked are getting punished but obviously not everyone. Then again, there have been a great deal of speculation on whether or not you can accurate determine how much content deserves to be on a website, as there have been with each and every update Google has placed out.

So indeed, there are some rather unfortunate bugs to work out with this latest algorithm change by the search engine giant. One that not too many people would have noticed. The Penguin Update would have been a bigger misstep if the average user had noticed.

Some are feeling a slight drop in hits to their website, others are feeling a more sizable drop, and others have not felt a drop yet, but it is coming. Whether or not Google intends to further tweak this update and lead to it working a bit better remains to be seen.

While there are other search engines out there, Google tends to dictate the terms more often than not of how people have to do their website and barring a huge blunder, chances are most of the world won't notice, as on the surface Google has the same look it always has before this Penguin Update and after this Penguin Update.

Given that Google's "controversial" change of its Terms of Use and the fact that Google has not suffered a hit to be concerned despite Internet outrage should tell you all you need to know about how much ninety eight percent of the population pays attention to the inner workings of Google.
